Mount Elgon National Park–Kenya

I finally went up  Mt. Elgon National Park. The first time, I did not get to see much. It was dry, the road going up the mountain was a nightmare. This time the road leading to the park was much better than the first time I drove up. This time it was greener and I got to see a variety of monkey’s. Mt. Elgon is about 26 km from  Kitale town in Trans Nzoia County.

The place is quite rocky so if you have a four wheel drive that would be ideal. My only problem with the park is the signage is confusing.  I feel they probably do it on purpose to encourage visitors to use guides to show them around.

It is peaceful and beautiful. It’s a great place for a picnic, photography, camping and meditation. They have lost of caves that you can visit. I did not go into a cave due to time. Apparently the mountain has elephants that are shorter but I haven’t laid my eyes on them yet. Hopefully the third time is a charm as they say.

I would recommend this place for those looking for peace and serenity and into hiking.
