Travelling is All About Experience: Food & Wine with Martin Ward

The last show of 2014 was excellent. I got to interview my guest on my favourite past time, wine. The only thing that was missing was wine tasting. I promised my guest we would get together and taste wine when I get my schedule sorted out. My guest was in England and I was in Finland.
So to all my travel fever people out there:
Are you planning on travelling this year but don’t really know where to go? Thinking of doing something different? Are you a foodie and love some good wine. Maybe you are knowledgeable about wine? Maybe you are clueless?

If all the above sounds good to you, you need to get in touch with Martin Ward. He is the founder of Wine Educators International. Wine Educators International organizes wine tours in Palma de Mallorca, Spain, Mainland Spain, Italy, Germany, Albania & Kosovo and many other countries in Europe. Martin has extensive knowledge on wine. He has been working with wine since he was 16 working for an old fashioned wine merchant in England. Martin’s work stems from his passion for wine and food. His business was born out of people’s peaking interest in wine from non-producing countries.

When buying wine, have you thought of what goes with what and why? Been utterly confused to the point you just go for whatever?
In my opinion wine is like dating, you need to go on different dates with different people to find out what you like. It’s not that complicated. You like it or you don’t like it. I feel Martins sums it up perfectly by saying “Wine is something that should be treated… as something to enjoy, it shouldn’t be complicated it should be good FUN.”

According to Martin, buying wine in a supermarket is not that easy.  Especially, when you do not know what exactly you are looking for.  He suggests looking for a local wine merchant to give you advice on wine and learn about tannin. Don’t take my word for it, enjoy the pictures and get to know Martin and Wine Educators International by listening to the show here.

Who is ready to go to Mallorca or on a wine tour in Europe now? I know I definitely am!
