A few weeks left to the end of the year and November is the month of pre-Christmas parties. This Wine Wednesday I continue with another set of sparkling wine and although it is from France, it is still not Champagne.
This sparkling wine is from the infamous Burgundy. Crémant de Bourgogne. The effervescence wines give it a creamy finish thus the name. The people from Burgundy like to put some fruity flavoured liquor to their Crémant to give it an extra kick. I was sceptical at first but it was a pretty good combination. It enhanced the flavour of the crémant.
I had the pleasure of sharing this wine with a friend without the liquor. Vincent Chaudray, Crémant de Bourgogne Brut. To the nose the wine has the scent of roasted nuts or baked fruit. When you taste it, it is citric, acidic and has a hint of apple and very dry. The effervescence is well balanced and gives it a creamy taste. It is a mixture of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir grapes. Alcoholic percentage of 12.
This wine is great for picnics, fatty fish, vegetarian meals, salads and poultry. Definitely a great starter with a tapas or its equivalent. This is a great conversation starter.
It is pocket friendly and I give this two thumbs up.
Enjoy your Wine Wednesday!
